Prices for Jewellery Sketches

Working with me is pretty straightforward and can be an inexpensive resource compared to a full time designer or artist. I have provided some sample price breakdowns below to help you manage your costs expectations.

Existing Designs

  • Single Sketch 1 view - £90.00

  • Double Sketch 2 Views - £140

  • Three sketches e.g Top, Side & 3/4 £195

  • Double Sketch with Sketchpad View £195

  • Sketch on Hand, Ear, Finger or Neckline £175

Design Work

For bespoke design, in-store displays, sketch outlines or ideas I typically charge £90ph. I generally offer fixed price jobs but happy to work on the clock.

The final images can include your company logo, your signature or your designer's signature, or just your company name written as a signature. The products can include annotations if required such as stone info and design details. I can also include a customer's name and engagement/wedding date if required. This is great for bespoke pieces, one-offs, and added value for product sales.

Questions I'm often asked about Jewellery Sketching

What tools do you use?
Traditionally I use pencil and paper, varied paper types and pencil styles. Mechanical pencils offer great flexibility but happy with a sharpened wood pencil.

What Apps do you use?
For digital work I work with Procreate for iPad. I have an iPad Pro with the Apple pencil and they are the best thing I think I've ever owned. I love them and use them daily. I'll take some pictures of my set up soon and and post them. Watch this space.

Is all your work digital?
No! I work with both pencil and digital sketching. I find digital quicker and more versatile for delivering client work as I can control the quality, output, size and colours very easily. I've worked very hard to make my digital work appear very natural and very similar if not identical to my traditional pencil work.

Do you provide traditional Sketches to clients?
Very rarely. I value the output of my art and delivering sketch work in the post is a lot more time consuming and costly. To keep my art cost effective and high quality I only provide digital files. When budget is no issue I am happy to discuss the creation and delivery of traditional sketch work as individual pages, sketch pads and framed pieces.

Why do you Sketch Jewellery?
I love it! I love sketching and designing and drawing. It's my creative outlet. I want to share my passion with those that see a value in my work.

How long have you been drawing?
I've had a keen interest in drawing since my early teens and went onto study industrial design at Loughborough University. I have a passion for luxury products and have pretty much sketched daily for the last 20 years.

Do you offer training in Sketching Jewellery?
I offer very limited (1 day per month) personal, on-site, training on Digital Drawing for Jewellery in Procreate for iPad. Current pricing is:

  • 1-2 people / £1200 for 1 day - 10am - 4pm (depending on location)

  • 3-4 people / £1800 for 1 day - 10am - 4pm (depending on location)

How can we keep our costs down?
A question i'm often asked and quite simply is reduce my thinking time. If you are direct and say I want two views of this piece and present two nice looking, clear images of your product then I can sketch quickly. If you have a few notes and an idea that requires the information to be deciphered into a finished product, this requires much more of my thinking time and sketching time and invariably ends up in 2-3 rounds of editions and modifications.

Less thinking time = more sketches or faster work = less costly work

How many clients can you work with at a time?
Due to current work commitments I am able to take on between 1-2 new clients per month. Please get in touch if you have a particular project in mind.

Do you offer discounts for larger projects?
Sometimes I can and if you are requesting 10+ products to be sketched in 2 views or more I can offer a discount.
